MOTOTRBO™ Ion is the first business-ready communication device with all-on voice and broadband data capabilities. It brings together renowned PTT performance, an open app ecosystem on the Android platform, and access to our unified technology ecosystem — from video security and analytics solutions, to best-in-class network security, to powerful new software and technology services like smart virtual assistants
Motorola Solutions launches MOTOTRBO™ Ion smart radio with full Android interface, broadband data capabilities and an open application ecosystem.
The MOTOTRBO Ion smart radio brings real-time intelligent data to existing business workflows. Its fully open Android application ecosystem allows for seamless integration of the mobile data applications that commercial industries depend on, such as those used for enterprise-grade barcode scanning, as well as team communication platforms used for messaging, meetings and shared content. A 13-megapixel camera and 4-inch, high-resolution touchscreen lets workers attach photos to work tickets, use video chat for remote diagnostics and view detailed images, schematics, diagrams, photos and videos. This simplifies device management and security, allowing businesses to move toward the use of a single device that offers the simplicity and reliability of push-to-talk radio with the additional capabilities of a smartphone, scanner and tablet.MOTOTRBO_Ion_DS_NA_0121_FINAL
In 2020 Motorola has changed the a number of things that impact your software maintenance plans.
Specifically, the numbering system has changed in 2019 we had the R02.10.nn releases for the system firmware. But starting in 2020, MOTOTRBO System Release versions will be formatted as M.YYYY.RR (M = MOTOTRBO systems, YYYY = year, RR = sequential release number for that year). So this release which would have been R2.11 under the old system is M2020.01.
Additionally, with the start of 2020 Motorola is now enforcing Software Update Management (SUM).
From M2020.01 onwards only products (i.e. MOTOTRBO radios, repeaters and CMSS) which are either in warranty or covered by a service package will accept software updates. Software Update Management (SUM) was introduced with the R2.10 system release and provides products with built-in intelligence to determine if they are eligible to accept a software update. Products on prior releases must therefore be upgraded to an R2.10 system release and be eligible to accept a software update before they can be upgraded to M2020.01 onwards.
When a service package is purchased, a SUM license is issued and pre-registered (in the Motorola Solutions licensing database) to the product serial number. The SUM license is then available for retrieval and activation in the product using Radio Management (RM) or the Customer programming Software 2.0 (CPS). Once a SUM license has been activated in a product, that product is then eligible to accept software updates for the duration of the MOTOTRBO Service Package.
Note: Selected radio models shipped since 18-Nov-2019 with enhanced warranties are eligible to accept software updates for a period of up-to 5 years.
Since CPE 2020 has been canceled, We are starting to announce / release our new Avigilon ACC interface. We connect like we do to most things with an IP link between our DAGate and the Avigilon Control Center (ACC) . We can get trigger notifications and distribute them to any MOTOTRBO device supported by our solution as well as any other carrier device we support.
So a trigger that a car has entered the restricted loading dock, or a person has entered a secure zone in the building, can go to any MOTOTRBO subscriber as a direct or group message. It can also go via SMS/MMS to a FirstNet device, as an SMS to any Cell phone, as a Google Cloud Message / Apple Push Notification to an App on a LEX-11 or other device(s), as an entry to a Property or Customer Management solution such as the Amadeus HotSOS product or simply as an email.
It's a unified IP connected solution that can easily integrate with your existing systems and operational policies and is available today to our customers.

Jeff Silberberg of DAPage, LLC and Wetherbee Dorshow of Earth Analytic, Inc announced the integration of DAPage and Smart Mountain enabling Motorola radio GPS tracking, MOTOTRBO, within the SmartMountain Dispatch module. This enhanced capability was recently demoed at the NSAA Western Regional show in Squaw Valley.
This is our integration of the Bosch Alarm panel (B465) with Motorola MOTOTRBOTM transport option for connectivity to the Central Station Monitoring It utilizes the XPR-7000 Call Box kit which comes without a battery and includes an external Mini-SMA adapter so the antenna, as seen here, can be extended outside of the enclosure. Our demo enclosure uses a combination of D-Ring and DIM rail mounting as well as a battery pack for extended operation in the event of a power failure. The solution is NFPA-72 compliant based on a reading of the 2013 revision and it's explanation of signal transport. Of course you should talk with your local AHJ (Agency Having Jurisdiction) to ensure that they are in agreement.
